April Murder Mystery Night!

April 1st, 2022

Our second time hosting a murder mystery night was a blast! Students had the chance to team up with other members to prove Joey Caruso innocence and follow the evidence to find out who really murdered Veronica Falcone. These events are a great way for members to meet and get to know each other outside of the classroom.

Career Talk with Forensic Investigator Reed Flanders

March 28th, 2022

Members had an opportunity to attend a virtual career talk with fellow SU graduate Reed Flanders about his work in the field as well as the opportunities he took advantage of while in the forensic undergrad and grad programs here at Syracuse University! This was a great chance for students to get a better understanding of what they can achieve while still on campus and what life may look like after graduation.

Q&A with Dr. GO

February 28, 2022

Students had the opportunity to join Forensic Anthropologist Dr. Go for a zoom G&A session. We had a great time discussing what it takes to be a forensic anthropologist and what are steps to succeeding in this unique field.

Documentary Screening of "Killing for Love

February 15th, 2022

Members had the chance to come together for another movie night, where we watched a documentary following the story of Jens Soering and his fight to get the truth out about what really happened in the murder of his girlfriend's parents. At the end of the movie, we engaged in a debate and poll on who we believed was really guilty based on the evidence provided.

December 3rd, 2021

Members had the chance to work in teams to solve a cold case file in order to clear Mr. Bones name! Our teamwork activities are a great way for members to get to know each other outside of the classroom.

Documentary Screening of "Mommy Dead and Dearest"

October 20th, 2021

Students had the opportunity to attend a screening of the HBO documentary "Mommy Dead and Dearest" which follows the story of Gypsy Rose Blanche. Our movie screenings are a great opportunity for members to meet one another and enjoy a night of forensic science themed movies.

Forensic Science Research Informational Fall 2021

October 8th, 2021

Our research informational gives students the opportunity to hear about on-campus research opportunities directly from professors. Students have the chance to discuss joining or assisting in the research projects that are presented and learn more about what Syracuse University has to offer outside of class. We were very excited to have our largest turnout so far for this event and hope to make this event an annual occurrence.

Involvement Fair Fall '21

September 9th , 2021

Our first in person involvement fair was a huge success. We had a great time getting to meet everyone who stopped by our table and share what our association is all about. Thank you to everyone who stopped by and chatted with us!

Crime Scenes and Coffee Beans Spring 2021

March 28th, 2021

Our online study session for the Spring Semester was a great time! Students had the opportunity to study together and ask for help. All students that attended also had the chance to enter in to win a $15 Starbucks gift card.

Meet the new FNSSI Director

February 19th, 2021

Our meet and greet event gave students the opportunity to meet Dr. Kathleen Corrado, the new Director of the Forensic and National Security Sciences Institute at Syracuse University. Students had the opportunity to learn about Dr. Corrado's experience and ask questions.

Forensic Science Career Panel

December 1st, and 2nd, 2020

For our career panel, we invited professionals in a variety of forensic science professions. Students had the opportunity to ask questions about career advice and hear anecdotes about working in the field. Our panelists included a forensic psychologist, an ATF Special Agent, a latent print chemist, a DFS examiner, an arson detective, a district attorney, and the retired Head of Security at the NSA.

2020 Research Informational

November 18th, 2020

Our first reach informational was hosted through zoom. We invited a variety of professors currently doing research on campus to talk about their work. Students have the opportunity to connect with professors and discuss joining or assisting the research projects. Research projects included topics such as DNA analysis, microbial studies, forensic linguistics, chemistry and digital/computational work.
